The Road Agent and his crew are responsible for the

maintenance of Alstead's roads and other town properties.

The Alstead Highway Department provides essential

services to the residents of Alstead in a prompt,

courteous, safe, efficient, and cost-effective manner.

The Town has 64.87 miles of paved and dirt roads, and about

16.92 miles of road are not maintained. Maintenance

responsibilities include the repair and upkeep of all Town

roads and streets, street signs, all surface and subsurface

drainage systems, repairing or replacing culverts, clearing

ditches. Posting of load limits and road closings, winter

maintenance (snow removal, salting and sanding) to provide

for safe vehicular and pedestrian traffic.

The Town does not maintain state roadways. You must call

the NH DOT District 4 Office at (603) 352-2302 for those

services.

Summer hours are Monday through Thursday from 6:00 a.m.- 4:30 p.m.
